Facts About the A&P



A&P Tax Revenues could help fund, build and improve Parks and Recreation Projects:
  • New Athletic Fields
  • Concessions, Pavilions & Restrooms
  • Playgrounds & Bike Trails

Additional Benefits of the A&P Tax could be:
  • Restoration of Public Venues
  • Increased Local Business through the increase of Tourism

Promote Special events such as:
  • Festivals, Fairs, Arts & Cultural Events
    (Such as Get Down, Downtown Festival, Farmer's Market, Holiday of Lights, Concerts, Exhibits & Main Street Events)
  • Athletic Regional & State Tournaments
    (Soccer, Baseball, Softball & Peewee Football)

A&P Tax Revenues will be funded by:
1% charged on Restaurants and Food Service Products Only.
(Example: Local restaurant medium drink @ $1.79 you would pay an additional 2¢)

3% charged on Motel/Hotel stay in Searcy City Limits – Only visitors staying in our local Motels would pay.
(Example: Room Charge of $110 would pay an additional $3.30.)

A&P Tax Revenues will be governed by:
An A&P Commission established by the City with seven members appointed by the City Council will be responsible for making all decisions concerning the A&P Tax revenues/expenditures. The commission will be comprised of two Searcy Council members, four members from the restaurant and hotel industries, and one at-large member.
